The Word This Week – 30th January 2021

Dear Friends in the Northwest,

We are keeping this Sunday as Candlemas Sunday, the festival falling on Tuesday next week, 2nd February. As you will see from the attached Reflection, this is a festival with deep roots in Christian tradition.

On Tuesday, our neighbours in the East Sutherland and Tain charge are having an online service for Candlemas via Zoom at 7.30 pm – it has been described to me as something like a service of lessons and carols. Revd Canon James Currall has extended an invitation to the service to anyone in this charge who wishes to join it. If you wish to do so, please let me know and I will send the meeting link to you by email.

Please hold the family and friends of Effie MacKay in your prayers this week. As many of you will know, Effie passed away in Mo Dhachaidh Nursing Home in Ullapool last Sunday morning. She was a long-standing member of the St Gilbert’s, Lochinver congregation. Her funeral will take place in the Church of Scotland in Lochinver on Friday 5th February, taken by Rev’d Iain MacLeod. Helen Morrison will be representing St Gilbert’s at that service.

News from the wider Scottish Episcopal Church can be found in the latest edition of Inspires Online via the SEC website or this link: https://us3.campaign-archive.com/?u=8570812f89ec37182e2dcfe57&id=8c454a9f08

With Love and Prayers,

Rev’d Clare
